A foreign national applying to temporary or permanent residence, but suffers from a health condition may be inadmissible.

The health conditions are considered but not limited to the following:

  • A danger to public health, such as communicable disease.
  • Danger to public safety.

The health condition may cause excessive demand on the health and social services, such as conditions that require ongoing expensive medical treatments, and therefore you may be inadmissible.

There are exemptions available to you, you may overcome inadmissibility under certain conditions

Medical Examinations

Are conducted by a panel of physicians authorized by IRCC.

Medical exams are mandatory for permanent residence applicants and are valid for 12 months.

Not all temporary residence applicants are required medical examinations.
